handyman

To all,
I hope it's okay that I pass along the name of a dear man who is also a Wonderful Handyman. He singlehandedly spruced up our house from top to bottom; now we never want to leave, yay! Omar Sotello came from El Salvador as a teenager to escape civil war in his country. He is a skilled painter, hangs TVs and organizes crazy wiring, fixes garage doors, seals cement, remodels bathrooms, finishes basements, installs tile, sinks, toilets, and light fixtures, and does carpentry and some plumbing (we kept this guy busy for a long time!). Omar is LDS, is honest, trustworthy and kind, speaks perfect English, has a good eye for detail, is full of great ideas, and works very hard at a decent price. We are grateful to him for all his help. This is how he supports his family, and things are a little slow for him this time of year.

Family Watchdog

Have you all seen this site? If you sign up, it sends an email to you anytime an offender moves in your area. I actually signed up for the email alerts a few years ago. It is a free service (donations are accepted) that is worth the little bit of time it takes to sign up. I think it's important to be aware of our neighborhood to help keep our kids safe. Click here to go to the site if you are interested.

iRace for MLD

Eliza was diagnosed in September 2007 with MLD. She is a beautiful girl that completes a wonderful family. The Williams family, who live in our neighborhood, amaze me by their ability turn their experience with Eliza's illness into so much energy that benefits so many others--- They have created Eliza's Library and TeamGive, which is holding a race in Eliza's honor!

iRace for MLD - 5k Charity Run

*click above for information*

We are "racing" as a family with tennis shoes and a jogging stroller! It will be great family fun! Each person registered for the race will receive one raffle ticket (you can buy additional raffle tickets beyond that). I am donating a photo session with digital negatives included that will be part of the raffle. I am not currently taking clients...and I don't give digital negatives...BUT this is a special cause! I can't wait to meet the winner! I hope I win the JEEP-- my minivan will miss me but I am ok with that :)

Please join us!!!!!!!!!!

If you register for this race (or donate the amount of registration to Eliza's Library or Teamgive)...let me know in the comments in this post (click here), on my blog, and you will also be put in a drawing to receive a free {CREATE} flashcard set (click to see)...actually- let's give away three, one set for 3 different winners! Sign up or donate today!!!!!

Hi everyone! I am looking for a beginners violin. Malyna wants to start violin lessons and I am a little nervous to go and buy a brand new one just because I don't want her to not be intrested. If anyone know of where to get a good deal on one or know of someone that I could buy it from that would be very useful!! Thanks again. Anjuli Rosevear

Children's reward tracker program

I discovered a reward tracking program online that I thought you might be interested in trying. There is a 14 day trial period and then a 19.99 cost if you want to buy the program. I'm still in the trial period and I think I like it. You can find it at www.myrewardboard.com If you have any questions, give me a call... 2. In a small bowl, partially mash beans, leaving some whole; set aside
3. In non stick skillet over medium heat, combine green onions, garlic and oil; cook , stirring, until softened, 2-3 minutes. Stir in reserved beans.
4. Lay tortillas on work surface. Spread one-fourth of bean mixture over half of each tortilla, followed by one-fourth of sweet potatoes, red pepper, cranberries and cheese.
5. Fold bare half of each tortilla over filling. Arrange on baking sheet and place under broiler until browned and slightly crisp. To serve, cut each tortilla into three wedges and top each with teaspoon of sour cream and sprinkle of parsley. Serve immediately.
